What I sweep, fit and clear

I have worked on a range of residential and commercial properties. As well as chimney sweeping I also offer numerous other services and I am more than happy to offer advice and guidance on burning and fuel types.

  1. Chimney Sweeping

Sweeping a chimney removes soot, creosote build-up and other blockages like birds nests, which if neglected, can prevent gases from escaping or cause chimney fires. I offer a friendly, clean and professional chimney sweeping service to make sure your chimney is safe and efficient, ready for the next burning season.

  2. Birds Nest Removal

I am always on call to help you remove and control unexpected guests in your chimney. My flexible working hours and years of experience mean that whatever the time and whatever the fireplace, I can handle your nesting problem.

  3. Cowl & Bird Guard Installation

Outside of the burning season, birds and other small animals may seek shelter in your chimney, making it unsafe to use. I can professionally install a chimney cowl or bird guard to prevent nesting and give fireplace fumes a safe way out. We also install caps for redundant flues.

  4. AGA & Rayburn Flue Cleaning

I tackle a wide range of flues from many different burning appliances, such as AGA and Rayburn cookers, woodburners, multi-fuel stoves and open fireplaces, using a range of techniques with traditional and power sweeping tools for a fast, effective and thorough clean.

  5. Carbon Monoxide Alarm Fitting

For a safe living environment and peace of mind, I can economically install a carbon monoxide alarm and provide advice on burning techniques and fuel types.

Fireplace tip

To prevent long-term build up and guarantee a safe fireplace, it is recommended to have a chimney inspection and clean once per year.

Mayn, the chap himself

The business is owned and run by myself, Mayn Stubley. I have worked on a range of residential and commercial properties, and over the years I have developed a strong reputation throughout the local area for being highly reliable, experienced and flexible in the service that I offer.

I will travel within a 15 mile radius of Cirencester. I use a range of techniques involving traditional and power sweeping tools, and I am always happy to offer advice and guidance on a variety of topics including burning and fuel types.

Flues I sweep

  • AGA cookers
  • Rayburn cookers
  • Woodburners
  • Multi-fuel stoves
  • Open fireplaces

Burn well between sweeps

Creosote tar is created by burning green or damp wood, or burning too slowly, and it builds up in the flue. Glazed creosote treatment is one of the jobs I take on, including in a flue over a Jetmaster open fire.

Ask me about burning techniques and fuel types when I visit. For logs, our recommended firewood supplier is Woodstock Forestry.

Dry wood

Green or damp wood leaves creosote in the flue.

Not too slowly

Burning too slowly lets tar build up.

Once a year

An inspection and clean once per year.

“Brilliant service!! We had to have our wood burning stove cleaned and chimney sweeped as it began to smoke over the weekend and my wife is due to give birth this week. He was over in 1/2hr and did a great job. Left zero mess around the fire. Would recommend and will use again.”
